Today in the modern world many of us believe we have arrived “It’s All ABOUT ME” but wisdom teaches there is nothing new under the sun… These days the word Partnership is being treated as some new thing… because it’s foundation values have somewhat been disappearing at amazing speed.
Nevertheless, there are four Principles that the Lord put into place that I would love to share with you…
- When Almighty God\Creator made males and females he gave BOTH of them two instructions but many of us love to stick that easier one, BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY… But God also gave a very important instruction, GO AND BOTH OF YOU MANAGE THE RESOURCES OF THE EARTH…
- Two cannot walk together unless they agree, let us stop this foo foo, the act… the superficial, it nah go work, it will produce nothing significant.
- Think of Others more highly than yourself \ Golden Rule: Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;4do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
- Three strands cannot be easily broken: A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
It’s on that note we want to set the tone to discuss the very critical topic, a principal, that we so much needs to apply to truly become, Peaceful, Persevering, Resilient People, especially in this Caribbean Region.
Born to both entrepreneurial parents, mom was most influential… but oh to this day the wars them hawkers have, many still have not learnt the art of partnership… and I believe its things like this we have also adapted so instead of we complement we believe all we can do is compete with each other.
I’ve learnt over the years to be successful at anything we do, we have to learn the art\skill\character trait of “Building Influence” am not talking about sweet talking people or bribes but showing others that we also care about their needs and helping them to achieve them. (Partnerships)
The second thing I’ve learnt over the years Many are called but FEW are chosen, yes we believe the greater the crowd the better the result but not always, what we need more than anything is effective Partnerships and its very simple process to determine such.
I recall a takeaway from the recent Specialized E-Waste Training conducted by Coesl In SVG. “Assets Vs Liabilities” start today with your evaluations and seriously ask yourself are your partnerships EFFECTIVE or are they just PLENTY… Facebook is a good one to gauge (Question how many friends do you have\added? How many can you say truly contributes to helping your sustainable livelihood?
Where do we go from here, EACH ONE PUSH UP ONE”… Let us continue to build Effective Partnerships that produce tangible results for all.
